Traditionally, Māori men used Heru, ornamental combs, to secure their long braided hair into elegant topknots, with each Heru symbolizing the wearer's rank. In contemporary times, Heru has transitioned into cherished adornments, often seen gracing celebratory events like weddings, graduations, and other significant milestones.
